The wrist x-rays show a volar Barton’s fracture.
Barton’s fracture is a specific type of intra articular fracture of the distal radius with associated radio-carpal dislocation.
There are two sub-types: volar and dorsal Barton’s depending on the whether the volar or dorsal rim of the distal radius is involved.
Early orthopaedic involvement is essential. The above patient had an open reduction and internal fixation of the distal radius.
