10-years-old asthmatic boy, presented with croupy cough and wheezy chest. His blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.299

pCO2 = 52 mmHg

pO2 = 33 mmHg

HCO3 = 25 mmol/L

Hb = 151 g/L

Na = 138 mmol/L

K = 3.7 mmol/L

Cl = 108 mmol/L

Glucose = 8.5 mmol/L

Lactate = 2.1 mmol/L

Creatinine = 52 umol/L
