Lab case 340

47 year old woman with known type I diabetes mellitus presented with diarrhoea. Her venous blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.39

PCO2 = 32 mmHg

PO2 = 32 mmHg

HCO3 = 18.8

Hb = 123 g/L

Na = 137 mmol/L

K = 4.5 mmol/L

Cl = 98 mmol/L

Glucose = 25 mmol/L

Lactate = 1.7 mmol/L

Creatinine = 79 nmol/L

Ketones = 7 mmol/L
