73 years old patient with history of COPD on home oxygen. Presented to ED requesting antibiotics for cough. His blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.32

pCO2 = 89.6 mmHg

HCO3 = 45.3 mmol/L

Hb = 150 g/L

Na = 142 mmol/L

K = 4.6 mmol/L

Cl = 93 mmol/L

Glucose = 5.1 mmol/L

Lactate = 0.8 mmol/L

Cr = 127 umo/L
