40 year old asthmatic lady presented to the emergency department with shortness of breath for 2 days. Her venous blood gas showed the following:

PH = 7.53

pCO2 = 25 mmHg

pO2 = 30 mmHg

HCO3 = 21 mmol/L

Hb = 154 g/L

Na = 137 mmol/L

K = 3.8 mmol/L

Cl = 110 mmol/L

Glucose = 4.9 mmol/L

Lactate = 4.0 mmol/L

Creatinine = 68 nmol/L
