Lab case 363

50 year old man presented to the emergency department with vomiting. He is an excessive THC smoker.

His blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.52

pCO2 = 34 mmHg

pO2 = 25 mmHg

HCO3 = 28 mmol/L

Hb = 151 g/L

Na = 130 mmol/L

K = 3.5 mmol/L

Cl = 95 mmol/L

Glucose = 17 mmol/L

Lactate = 2.0 mmol/L

Creatinine = 62 umol/L
