Team Leader School

A leadership Workshop
Organised by Emergency Department

“People ask the difference between a leader and a boss. The leader leads, and the boss drives.”
Theodore Roosevelt

The healthcare environment has become more dynamic and complex; the healthcare reforms and market forces are transforming how healthcare is delivered and managed. “Disciplined, hardworking, effective, and visionary leaders are needed and critical to create and lead high-performance teams in these organizations” (1). It is assumed that leadership skills will automatically develop in doctors when they become more senior; there is no dedicated training or time spent traditionally to improve their leadership skills. Team Leader School is an endeavour to help junior doctors transition to leadership roles.

The following components of effective leadership are discussed in the workshop with scenario-based interactive sessions with senior physicians in leadership roles-

  1. Clinical supervision
  2. Situational Awareness
  3. Communication
  4. Crisis resource management
  5. Administration, risk management, and mitigation

The next Team Leader School workshop will be on-

12th February-

  1. Communication
  2. Clinical Supervision
  3. Administration and Flow

12th March-

  1. Crisis Resource Management
  2. Situational awareness
