The frontal x-ray of the hand shows soft tissue calcinosis and resorption of the tips of the terminal phalanges of the fingers (i.e. acro-osteolysis). These changes are seen in scleroderma, which is a connective tissue disorder, and as a result, the patient had an associated interstitial lung disease.
