Imaging Case of the Week 269 Answer

The sagittal neck CT scan shows epiglottitis. The epiglottis is swollen giving rise to ‘Thumbprint Sign’. The vallecular space (preepiglottic space) is obliterated due to swollen base of the epiglottis causing a ‘Vallecular Sign’.

The patient was admitted and treated with intravenous antibiotics.
