Imaging Case of the Week 594 Anwer

The lateral neck x-ray shows a linear radio opaque foreign body approximately 2 inch long (chicken bone from history) in the prevertebral area anterior to C5-C7. There is some lucency in the space indicating possible associated perforation. Anatomically cricopharyngeal constriction lies anterior to C6C7 and this is the site of lodgment in this case. Patient was referred for emergency endoscopic removal and did well.
