Lab case 264

21 year old man presented with extreme lethargy and dehydration. His pulse rate was 132, Blood pressure was 96/58 and respiratory rate was 32.

His blood gases showed the following:

PH = 6.94

PCO2 = 10 mmHg

PO2 = 132 mmHg

HCO3 = 3 mmol/L

Na = 140 mmol/L

K = 4.5 mmol/L

Cl = 110 mmol/L

BSL = 27 mmol/L

Urea = 19 mmol/L

Cr = 152 nmol/L

Lactate = 4.6 mmol/L

Ketones = 6.2
