21 year old woman presented with weight loss and exacerbation of asthma for 3 months. Her blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.17

PCO2 = 30 mmHg

PO2 = 50 mmHg

HCO3 = 14 mmol/L

Na = 123 mmol/L

K = 4.6 mmol/L

Cl = 98 mmol/L

BSL = 3.4 mmol/L

Lactate = 3.4 mmol/L

Cr = 90 nmol/L
