Lab case 357

55 year old man was found unresponsive, his blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.025

pCO2 = 116 mmHg

pO2 = 45 mmHg

HCO3 = 28.9 mmol/L

Hb = 198 g/L

Na = 144 mmol/L

K = 4.4 mmol/L

Cl = 105 mmol/L

Glucose = 10 mmol/L

Lactate = 7.6 mmol/L

Creatinine = 96 umol/L

Questions:
