Lab case 411

40-year-old man was brought to ED with low GCS after an ingestion of unknown substance. His arterial blood gases (after intubation) showed the following:

PH = 7.12

pCO2 = 31 mmHg

pO2 = 120 mmHg

HCO3 = 10 mmol/L

Na = 151 mmol/L

K = 3.7 mmol/L

Cl = 117 mmol/L

Ionised Ca = 1.15 mmol/L

Hb = 141 g/L

Glucose = 12.2 mmol/L

Lactate = 4.2 mmol/L
