60-year-old women presented to the emergency department compla ining of headache and fatigue. Her venous blood gases showed the following:

PH = 7.415

pCO2 = 34 mmHg

pO2 = 40 mmHg

HCO3 = 21.6 mmol/L

Na = 129 mmol/L

K = 13.1  mmol/L

Cl = 105  mmol/L

Hb = 232 g/L

Glucose = 7.1 mmol/L

Lactate = 1.8 mmol/L

Creatinine = 62 umol/L
