This is an ECG of a patient who is day 4 post Out of hospital cardiac arrest (OOHCA).
Interpretation:
- Sinus Bradycardia
- Presence of U waves (best seen in V2/V3)
- Partial LBBB
- Left Axis Deviation
U Waves are often seen in OOHCA when intracranial pressure is raised. These are usually best seen in leads V2/V3.
Causes:
- Physiological (in young people)
- Severe Hypokalemia
- Hypomagnesemia
- Hypothermia
- Raised ICP
- LVH
- Cardiomyopathy
- Drugs: (Digoxin, phenothiazines)
