The lateral view of the right ankle shows an avulsion fracture of the calcaneal tuberosity. An ultrasound scan of the affected area showed a complete tear of the Achilles tendon.

Calcaneal tuberosity avulsion fractures constitute about 3% of calcaneal fractures. There is an association with diabetes mellitus and osteoporosis.
