Imaging Case of the Week 518 Answer

The lateral ankle image shows mildly displaced fracture of the anterior process of calcaneus.

The injury results from avulsion of the bifurcate ligament following an inversion & plantar flexion of the foot.

This is a missable injury. Particular attention should be paid to the anterior aspect of the calcaneus on lateral views of the ankle.
