The CT image shows-

a hypoattenuating wedge shaped area in the parenchyma of the left kidney. Additional imaging tests revealed a diagnosis of left renal infarct.

Causes could be:

  • Atrial fibrillation
  • Infective endocarditis
  • Septic embolism
  • Hypercoagulable state

As such, this patient requires further work up to explore underlying etiology.
