A 70 year old lady post abdominal surgery presents SOB.

She has mild hypotension and tachypnoea

Blood results:Moderate acidosis which is

mixed high anion gap metabolic and respiratory acidosis with moderate hypokalaemia

Causes of:

HAGMA – sepsis, ketones, renal failure, other causes of lactate

Resp acidosis – pain, analgesia, PE, aspiration, COPD exacerbation
