A 22 year old man with central chest pain, tachycardia and tachypnoea

his blood test shows:respiratory alkalosis

acute metabolic compensation

moderate hypokalaemia

elevated lactate – secondary to compensation for respiratory alkalosis

DDx:

consider all causes of chest pain

hyperventilation
