Lab case 355

70 year old man brought to ED with ROSC after cardiac arrest. He remained bradycardic after multiple doses of adrenalin. His bradycardia responded to a single dose of atropine. Blood gases for this patient showed the following:

PH = 6.71

pCO2 = 125 mmHg

pO2 = 43 mmHg

HCO3 = 15 mmol/L

Na = 141 mmol/L

K = 7.1 mmol/L

Cl = 109 mmol/L

Creatinine = 536 umol/L

Glucose = 4.9 mmol/L

Lactate = 9.6 mmol/L
