25 year-old-man with type 1 DM presented with diarrhoea and vomiting. His VBG showed the following:

PH = 7.395

pCO2 = 42 mmHg

pO2 = 54 mmHg

HCO3 = 25 mmol/L

Na = 131 mmol/L

K = 5.2 mmol/L

Cl = 93 mmol/L

Glucose = 39 mmol/L

Lactate = 1.6 mmol/L

Hb = 139 mmol/L

Creatinine = 69 mol/L

Ketones = 1.6 mmol/L
