Imaging Case of the Week 280 Answer

The frontal view of the knee shows a small fragment of bone lying adjacent to the lateral tibial condyle. This fracture, known as a Segond fracture, has a high association with an ACL tear.

The HBL view shows a knee effusion. There is also a depression in the lateral femoral condyle; this is the Lateral Condylar Notch sign, which again implies a likely ACL tear.

An MRI scan of the patient’s knee diagnosed a complete ACL rupture.
