A 67 yr old male was brought to the Emergency Department following an Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OOHCA). Return of circulation was achieved pre-hospital following 8 mins of CPR. He has a history of ‘heart muscle weakness’, T2DM and ‘kidney problems’.

His blood results:pH  7.15  (7.36-7.44)

CO2  42  (35-45 mmHg)

Na 130  (137-145 mmol/l)

K 7.6  (3.4-6.1 mmol/l)

Cl 102  (99-111 mmol/l)

HCO3   14  (22-26 mmol/l)

Urea  20.4 (2.8-7.5 mmol/l)

Creat 235  (<130 umol/l)

Lactate  6.3

Glucose  14.3
