51 year old man, recently returned from the middle east, presented with shortness of breath. His CXR was normal. His arterial blood gases showed the following:
PH = 7.51
PaCO2 = 28 mmHg
PO2 = 56 mmHg
HCO3 = 23 mmol/L
Na = 141 mmol/L
K = 5.3 mmol/L
Cl=107 mmol/L
Glucose = 6.1 mmol/L
Lactate = 2.5 mmol/L
Creatinine = 73 umol/L
