ECG of the Week 1st May 2019 – Interpretation

The ECG below is taken from a man who has been referred by his GP after presenting symptom-free for a health check following an electric shock at work in a domestic current.

ECG Features:-

Rate: 120
Rhythm: Atrial fibrillation
Axis: Normal
Morphology: No ischaemic change
Intervals: Narrow complexes, QRS 80ms.
Summary: Atrial fibrillation with fast ventricular rate.
Management:-
Onset not known (could be incidental finding)
Anticoagulate (NOAC of your choosing)
Rate control (B blocker commenced) before discharge.
Refer for Outpatient Echo
Cadiology Outpatients for Cardioversion work up.
